The Winsted Lester Prairie Police Department (WLP PD) proudly serves the communities of Winsted and Lester Prairie through professional, responsive, and community-focused law enforcement. Officers are dedicated to protecting life and property, enforcing laws, and promoting public safety while treating all individuals with fairness, dignity, and respect. 

The Winsted Lester Prairie Police Department is located at Winsted City Hall in downtown Winsted and can be accessed through the main entrance to City Hall. 

The Department consists of a Chief, six full-time Police Officers, and several part-time Police Officers; which help provide the cities of Winsted and Lester Prairie with 24 hours of active police services a day. Full-time Police Officers are EMT-trained to better serve the public. WLP PD provides a full range of services, including patrol and emergency response, traffic safety and crash investigation, criminal investigations, community outreach, and collaboration with regional partners. 

The Police Department schedules police services for Winstock, Winsted Winter Festival, Winsted Summer Festival, Prairie Days, and other events held throughout the year within the two communities. The Department works closely with the McLeod County Sheriff's Office to provide the needed police services for Winstock and other local events. The Department is also active in the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted (Winsted Elementary School), Lester Prairie, and Holy Trinity Schools, such as providing safety talks as needed, conducting an annual bicycle safety talk and rodeo, and teaching the D.A.R.E. program to students. 

Officers are visible and engaged in the community-working with residents, businesses, school, and local organizations to prevent crime, educate, and address concerns. The WLP PD believes strong relationships build safer communities. By emphasizing communication, education, and proactive policing, the Winsted Lester Prairie Police Department strives to be a trusted resource and partner for all those who live, work, and visit our cities.
